The Firefighters Museum of Calgary Pop-Up Gallery (PUG) is:
- a short-term institution existing in a temporary space.
- a way to catalyze conversations among diverse people, mediated by their objects.
- a temporary cultural event, less formal than a gallery or museum but more formal than private showing of work.
- Our PUG will occur right next to the Glenbow Museum, simultaneously activating the location with a museum experience as well as grounding the exhibition in a relevant setting.
Our primary goal for the Pop-Up Gallery (PUG) is to bring people together in conversation through stories, art, history, and objects.
Empower people to share meaningful stories and objects with one another;
Enable the museum to step outside its physical confines, and collaborate with community partners who might not ordinarily come to our programs;
Experiment with themes, content, and collaborations in an intimate yet short-lived, simple way
