Rebecca Derry Melenka

Rebecca Derry Melenka has been with the Firefighters Museum of Calgary since 2011. Born and raised in Calgary, she has been an active member of the museum community since 1997. She has two undergraduate degrees from the University of Calgary (Linguistics and Archaeology) as well as an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester (2003) and a certificate in Spanish (2011-2013).
She worked at many institutions throughout Calgary including the University of Calgary’s Architectural Archives (1999), the Military Museums (1999-2001), and the Glenbow (2000-2011) While at the Glenbow, she worked in the Archives, Cultural History, Indigenous Studies and Art. She took care of travelling exhibits from 2003 - 2010, and completed her portfolio as the Digitization and Rights Co-ordinator.
She is currently responsible for all areas of the Firefighters Museum of Calgary:

Catherine Heggs has been with the Firefighters Museum of Calgary since, February 2, 2015. Her responsibilities include assisting and facilitating offsite exhibitions and programming initiatives as well as caring for the collection.
Catherine has more than 10 years of museum experience, most recently having worked as a Collections Technician at the Glenbow Museum in both the Cultural and Military History Departments. Over the past 10 years Catherine has worked in a multitude of museum fields including Pest Control, Conservation, Memberships, Collections and Exhibits. Catherine’s father, uncle and grandfather all served as firefighters in Ontario.
Catherine received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary as well as a diploma in Museum Studies from Algonquin College and is fluent in both French and English.
